Are you getting one? It would be nice to have amazon prime upstairs.

I thought about it. It's a killer deal. Plus its nice just to have no cables or power. But we kinda already have it on every tv already.

Plugging it into the wall is part of what is keeping me from buying it. I mean its not like I plan on using it while camping, but its already a nasty nest behind the TV as it is.

Wait it has a power plug? WTF! That's a deal breaker right there. Forget it then. I would go with a Roku 3 over that. It has no power cable.

HDMI does not provide power, so it has to have some form of power supplied. I don't see how your Roku 3 could avoid this, unless it has a USB connection to the TV as well to draw power from...

Edit: Just looked at a picture of the Roku 3 on roku's site. It certainly appears to have a large area for a power cable to plug in.

Wow I was always under the assumption that these all drew power from the HDMI port, I guess I always thought they worked like a USB port. Hmmm really no point in any of them then, might as well just buy a box version.

Nah, any of these stick things require some form of power as that is not part of the HDMI standard. There are pro's and con's to the reasons power isn't part of it.

Anyhow, best case is some of them that will draw power via USB, so if you TV has USB ports you just have the dongle and USB tucked in behind the TV.

On the other hand, things like this that actually have WiFi and do streaming likely need more power than a single USB could provide.

I will be interested on your review @jmanz .

Messed around with it last night for a bit. Watched an episode of The Wire and the first episode of season three of Eastbound and Down. Worked really well, setup was quick and easy. They pre-configure it with your Amazon Prime account. For Netflix, you just enter in your email and password and the way you go. Haven't found anything to not like yet about it.

Do you have any commentary about the user interface? We have Amazon Prime through a yahoo widget. It sucks in general, but specifically, its to many button pushes to get to it, so the kids don't follow.

It plugs just in your HDMI port and then has a small AC adapter that powers it?

The interface is pretty straight forward and I do like the remote. It's smaller but has everything you need on it. I wouldn't think that your kids would have any problem with the navigation. I would setup the parental controls however so they don't start purchasing shows and movies on accident. Honestly I didn't spend a whole lot of time with the UI yet.

Yes that is correct.

Well plugged this in yesterday, I think it's well worth the money compared to the Roku it's so snappy and fast. I am impressed this is the way these things should be. I tried out the Amazon Prime and it is fast loading. Overall I am pleased for what I payed for it. The remote works well and doesn't have to be line of site.

It does get finicky with Netflix once in awhile but overall it works very well.
