Vulnerabilities discovered in Windows security protocols

Recommended Posts

Two vulnerabilities have been uncovered in Microsoft Windows security protocols which could lead to password cracking and domain compromise, researchers have warned. This week, the Preempt security team said the bugs were discovered in the Microsoft Windows NT LAN Manager (NTLM) security protocols, a security software suite which replaced the older Windows LAN Manager (LANMAN) platform.

Interesting. I would expect a patch shortly then. I know I had one come down last night, but I didn't read what for.

So I haven't really had to play with Windows 10's built in email client until I was helping this old man. What a piece of shit it is. So modern that you can't even find your way around. Very, very limited on the options as well. Basically just an IMAP client to sync. As long as your using one of the major email providers you will probably be fine, but for people using old POP3 clients it sucks. Can't import shit into it as well. So I went looking for a free email client, and basically Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, are both dead. I ended up installing Thunderbird, you know Mozilla's email client. Surprisingly it works quite well and has a bunch of features built in. A poor mans Outlook basically. I have always seen it out there just have never used it, but I am impressed.

Well today we are getting all new windows put in our house. We are having every one replaced. 10 windows in total. When we moved in half were junk, wouldn't open, screens broke etc. We got the highest energy rating we could in them. They also have a lifetime warranty on the glass breaking even if it's your fault. Was dam expensive though. But hopefully will save in heat this winter and stay cooler during the summer.
