Slave Laborers Forced Out by Slave Robots

Foxconn's panel arm, Innolux, most famous for building smartphone and monitor displays, has just announced that it will be cutting its workforce of 60,000, by over 10,000 at the end of 2018. These 10,000 jobs will be lost to robotics being implemented in the factory. Foxconn is making a $342M investment in Innolux to help bring production costs down and to improve production time. Foxconn is already working on new robots, that will catch the other robots, as those attempt to jump to their demise from the top of the factory.

Our local McDonald's just done done with a re-model job. They basically re-did the inside and removed the old 4 teller positions down to one now and installed 4 new self ordering, and also removed a bunch of seating inside. Looks like shit now. But hey they were able to save money by removing 4 positions and making you order your own food to save on wages/workman's comp/etc. Just wait till the robot cooking machines take over in the back.

Was listening to a Mark Cuban interview last night and they asked about the dependence on China for our drugs and other hospital supplies, especially during this virus crisis. He said the way to reverse this is to increase robotics which would ultimately be more cost effective than even their cheap labor in China.

Cue the rise of the machine thread.
