Losing net neutrality

Where does this idea stem from?  Given current rates and availability of services, everything on the net is accessible if you have a provider, and provider's are offering higher speeds at lower prices to compete....

They are going to try to goto a subscription based internet, not like ours now where yo u can go wherever. Why do you think so many people are trying to fight this?

Ridiculous idea.  If a particular site wants to charge for a subscription fine, but for the whole web it's a crock of BS.

Tell that to our government.

What company is that for?

At&t 3g network.

Resurrecting an old thread, but our fears may come with the gears going in motion to take away net neutrality.  Anyone that has been looking at news lately has probably heard about recent FCC hearings to possible break apart the current net neutrality laws.  This coupled with future mergers in telecom is not a good thing.

Well it passed get ready for a whole different internet, people don't understand what it will come to. Oh you want to watch Netflix? That is an extra $2.99 on your plan.

I really don't think people understand the full effect of this, in fact most internet users probably don't even know what happened. They won't notice it until it is slowly introduced. This will change everything on the internet, what was once is no longer. The internet will never be the same.

In the next few days you will see all talk of this disappear, since most of the news companies have ties to the companies that backed this. You won't notice it till late next year.

Sons ah bitches are moving in for the kill. All speech that doesn't conform to the NWO gets the slow lane or black holed.

It's basically going to be like "The Great Wall" in China, they can block websites based on what you pay for etc. I also wonder if this will kill Bitcoins, they could packet shape the traffic and slow it to a crawl.

Where this is in place in other countries.

Here is what I see coming:

  • Video streaming is the first thing they will go after (this might actually drop Netflix stock to lower) but I see Netflix raising their prices for sure to pass on what they have to pay to the consumer.

  • Streaming sites like Youtube, etc.

  • Apps like Plex, Torrents, etc.

  • VPN (yes this will be harder but you can't bet they will)

  • Porn sites, enjoy it while you can.

Sons ah bucks. Greedy devils.
It's only gonna get worse, Verizon hasn't announced their new rates, nor has Charter. Remember when cell phone planes were only $40? back in the day, now we pay more? It may come the same way with internet "Remember when we only had to pay $50 a month, now it's $150 a month?". Makes no sense in the age we live in that this stuff keeps going up instead of coming down, and don't give me this overhead bullshit either.
