Looks like Corey should be getting a blu-ray player soon.  :lol:porn arrives on Blu-Ray - another nail in the HD-DVD coffin

I was watching a show on the history channel about the 80s and they cited the porn industry as one of the reasons the format war between Beta and VHS ended - that being that the industry choose VHS over Beta

Speaking of porn...I took this from a post unrelated to porn but...

Yes the first blue-ray i have watched. It was so clear you could see the pores on their faces.
The females in the porns tend to, how do you say, not have some of the best skin and need a lot of make up....  I don't know if a person needs that much detail

Susan Chronister of Wal-Mart wrote on the company's blog, "By June Wal-Mart will only be carrying Blu-ray movies and hardware machines, and of course standard-def movies, DVD players, and up-convert players."

I still would've like to see HD DVD win this.  It was a more finished format.  Blu Ray is still kind of in beta really.  All the players currently on the market will be out of date soon.  I read somewhere that the Only Blu Ray player available that will be updatable to versions that include web features etc. is the PS3.  Oh well, as long as the damn format war ends it will be good enough

From SlashDot:

Multiple users have written to tell us that Toshiba is planning to halt production of devices related to HD-DVD. According to Japanese broadcasting network NHK, Toshiba will lose "hundreds of millions of dollars" as the format war finally draws to a close. Regardless, investors are pleased that Toshiba has made the decision to cut its losses. This comes after a last-ditch price cut was unable to prevent Wal-mart from throwing their lot in with Blu-ray, although some sources suggest that Wal-mart was already aware of Toshiba's plans to withdraw from fight.

Ya shes pretty much dead.

Yep.  HD DVD is done for.  Anyone waiting and wanting to go Hi Def, the winner will be Blu Ray.  DO NOT however buy a Blu Ray player, unless it is a PS3 (or you don't care about the advanced features of BD 2.0.  Current players (other than the PS3) are supposedly not going to be able to update to this version.  What will you be missing, probably not a lot... some internet content I think and something like PIP (picture in picture) commentaries.  So you could watch your movie and see the commentary in a PIP box is my assumption.  Either way, it may not be much or too important, but if it were me I'd wait.... or buy a PS3

Now if my dad would have only listened back in 97' when i told him to take stock out in Blue-ray.

Awesome... now when is Transformers coming to Blu Ray
