Noticed a comment in the highlights of the latest Apple Watch update that a watch can now be used to unlock your phone when facial recognition fails due to a mask. So if you have an up to date iPhone X or newer and Apple Watch, there's now an "Unlock with Apple Watch" option in the phone's Settings > Face Id & Passcode where you could enabled one or more paired watches to allow for unlocking the device. About time they have some option to make facial recognition work with a mask, now if only they'd put a finger print sensor back in the phone.

Anyway, your watch must be nearby, on a wrist and unlocked for this to work. There also seems to still be some level of facial recognition, as it worked as expected for me, but when someone else tried to unlock my phone with my watch right nearby it didn't fall back to the watch auth and just refused to unlock without entering a PIN
