So i am sure if you have been keeping up with Vista you have heard about their "Readyboost" feature. Which basically allows you to use a standard USB drive (over 256mb) and it will use the "Readyboost" feature. It does make a big difference on startup. What video here:

Well i thought to myself why not build a proprietary chip on the mainboard to take advantage of this? Well it looks like i was beaten to the punch...

I put vister on the least powerful of me 6 mocheens. I think i'll now get a flash stick and try the readyboost.

Does it.

I spent a fair amount of time today "researching" what might be a better candidate for this readyboost. Vista stuff has been a common topic of discussion for daveC and I lately.

I have yet to find "the" flash drive for this, so post here if you find the clear winner.

I believe Kingston is doing "vista" sticks now, they actually have the name vista stamped on the side. You basically just need a high speed chip usb drive.

This site http://www.grantgibson.co.uk/misc/readyboost/ approximately 574 Readyboost Compatible drives.

The only USB drive I have now is my Ipod.  Reading on a forum, I found Crystal Disk Mark.

Tested using CrystalDiskMark 1.0  [http://crystalmark.info/]

I found a site yesterday that looked like it had a good list of specifications for Readyboost.  I'll try to find that before work (I'll edit this post)

Ive tried readyboost here at work on Vista, i didn't notice any difference. I heard it can actually hinder performance on new SATA drives. It's basically made for older system like IDE drives.

My old mocheen has IDE so I may yet be trying this.

Looks like the Apacer HT203 Handy Steno 200x came out on top.

Looks like it.  Don't seem readily available though...I saw a few on amazon and a few on ebay...none on newegg or frys or amazon.  The sellers on ebay were Canadian. Can't find any damn reviews...

For some reason, I just want the 4GB version.

Use any usb stick LINK
