Nodle and I were talking about this the other day. They are bad here too, had them sprayed last week but the neighbor better do her part and take care of hers otherwise they will just blow over my way. Some parts of town just look horrible as they let their lawn go.

2-4D.  I've sprayed my lawn with a good dose of this the past couple years.  My yard has no protection from the neighbor yards, which are overrun with these dumb things, but once I put it down they have gone away and stayed away. 2-4D is a general broadleaf killer, so be careful around any plants that you want to have live.  It won't kill your grass though.  One more note is that this is basically the primary ingredient in products such as Weed-B-Gone, just a lot cheaper when you go to somewhere like Fleet Farm and pick this up rather than buying the diluted weed be gone type products

What did you use to spray? I want to get something to spray out lawn since there are way too many to dig them by hand now.

Our was horrible this year, worse I have ever seen! Anyways I cut them yesterday, cut all the heads off. Looks good now, had the wife pick up a dog food sized bag of weed and feed and put that in a push spreader and used the whole bag on the lawn. We will see what it does.

I just picked up an Ortho Dial-N-Spay.  Fill it with any liquid chemical, set the dial for the amount of chemical per gallon of water and away you go.  Theres a lot of similar things out there, this just happened to be near the 2-4D I was picking up.  The main problem I had was that the 2-4D wasn't labeled for this type of spayer, so had to run some calculations to figure out how much to set the dial to.   Posted Image

I joked with my dad and told him I bought a big bag of Roundup and spread it all over the yard.

Roundup would certainly kill off the dandelions quick, as well as everything else in the yard.  On the other hand I don't know that I've ever seen RoundUp in anything but a liquid form, so not sure how you'd put it in a bag.  Seriously though, 2-4D.  It's a broadleaf chemical so it targets them just as well but won't kill off your grass.

Ya I have some with a pump spray where it's in concentrate. Works real well. But for the amount of dandelions that we had this would not do.

Don't you need a license to get 2-4d? Everything I read online says you do. Seems licenses are not needed if for use on your own property.

I just went into fleet farm here in town and bought a couple gallon jug of 2-4D when I got mine.  Didn't have a license of any sort, other than maybe my driver's license

I didn't get to spray yet due to rain and wind. Hopefully this week when it clears up I can finally spray the yard. I got some 2-4 so we'll see how much yard I can kill.....

Good luck, not that it's very hard.  I need to pick up some more 2-4, sprayed the last of what I had on the yard at the old house.  Need some to wipe out the dandelions and some other weeds that are in the new yard.  Also will then need some fertilizer and some fresh seed, seems a little thin in areas
