Google - Ignoring your privacy settings

Wasn't Google's motto fairly simplistic. Something along the lines of don't be evil. I've been leary of using their services for a while, they track a LOT of your activity and remember it all. True, this is coming from a big fan of MS (considering I work there). Regardless of that, a friend pointed the following article out to me as we've recently been tracking and talking about all the changes in Google's privacy policies.

Apparently it was recently learned that they were bypassing some privacy settings in Safari? I hadn't heard this, but the article linked below talks a bit about it and the research Microsoft did to see if they did the same for IE. The answer simply is yes, so they are most likely doing this with all browsers. I say this, because it sounds like the site is supposed to pass policy info, etc to the browser. The browsers then have to respect and respond to this information. It appears Google is sending some phony junk that leads the browser to believe cookies won't be used for tracking and then they use them for tracking regardless.

At any rate, it goes on about this and the in depth info. I can only assume if they did this to get past Sarfari and have done more to get past additional IE privacy stuff that they are bypassing Mozilla browsers as well. Chrome you ask? Why would they have to fight chrome, it probably doesn't even respect your privacy settings in the first place....

Quote

"I was sent some pictures by a source who claims China will be releasing Hi Res images taken by the Chang'e-2 moon orbiter, which clearly show buildings and structures on the moons surface. He also claims NASA has deliberately bombed important areas of the Moon in an effort to destroy ancient artefacts and facility's. Pictures yet to be released clearly show nuclear impact craters and building debris caused by explosions in an effort by NASA to destroy the truth. China is moving toward full disclosure of the Extraterrestrial reality, if these images and future ones are verified genuine then NASA should be investigated for fraud and treason. China will be releasing all the data and images from the Chang'e-2 in the coming weeks and months, lets hope this is the beginning of a new era."

Iran 'halts oil sales to France and Britain'

I wonder if this will effect our prices? Get ready for war!

Quote

Iran has halted oil sales to British and French companies, the nation's oil ministry has said.

A spokesman was reported as saying on the ministry's website that Iran would "sell our oil to new customers".

European Union member states had earlier agreed to stop importing Iranian crude from 1 July.

The move is intended to pressure Tehran to stop enriching uranium, which can be used for civilian nuclear purposes but also to build warheads.

Iran insists its nuclear programme is peaceful, but the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency says it has information suggesting Iran has carried out tests "relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device".

Sunday's statement on the oil ministry website was attributed to spokesman Ali Reza Nikzad Rahbar.

Some Iranian media had on Wednesday announced that Iran had stopped oil exports to the Netherlands, Greece, France, Portugal, Spain and Italy in retaliation for the EU's oil embargo, but this was later denied by the oil ministry.

The EU oil embargo, which was agreed last month, was phased so member states that were relatively dependent on Iranian crude - notably Greece, Spain and Italy - had enough time to find alternative sources.

The bloc currently buys about 20% of Iran's oil exports, which account for a majority of government revenue.

However, Iran's Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said that a cut in exports to Europe would not hurt Tehran.

Russian military drafts options for responding to attack on Iran

Quote

MOSCOW — Russia has been preparing for the prospect of an Israeli or U.S. air strike on Iran in 2012.

Officials said the Kremlin has ordered the military to draft options for a Russian response to any foreign attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities. They said the Defense Ministry has established a facility to monitor Teheran, an ally and trading partner of Moscow.

“Iran, of course, is a sore spot,” Russian Chief of Staff Gen. Nikolai Makarov said.

Makarov said Iran has become the leading focus of the Kremlin. He said the Defense Ministry has established a center to closely monitor Iran and the rest of the Middle East.

Makarov said international pressure on Iran has been growing and could be followed by military action. He said the current sanctions on Tehran could lead to a confrontation in mid-2012.

“Some kind of decision should be taken, probably closer to summer,” Makarov said on Feb. 14.

In 2011, Russia completed a $1 billion project to launch Iran’s first nuclear energy reactor. At the same time, the Kremlin, which cited United Nations sanctions, returned about $350 million in a downpayment for the S-300PMU1 air defense system for Tehran.

“We used to have a general on duty at each main command,” Makarov said. “Now, we have created a situation center that receives all the necessary information in real-time.”

The United States has also increased monitoring of Israel and Iran out of concern for a regional war in 2012. On Feb. 14, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told the Senate Armed Services Committee that he could not determine whether Israel has decided to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities this spring.
